报告摘要:

High entropy alloys (HEA) represent a bold step forward in alloy development. This is driven by an ever-increasing demand for high strength in materials used for aerospace, mining, energy and transportation. In this seminar, recent advances in HEA in the leading labs will be presented with a focus on the strength improvement.

Prof. Xie received his PhD in materials engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 2004. Following his PhD, Dr. Xie was awarded the Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship and conducted research on engineering coatings. Later Dr. Xie worked as a researcher fellow at the University of Sydney and the Centre for Integrated Nanotechnologies of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, NM, USA before returning to Australia in 2008 to establish and lead a materials research group at Perth, Western Australia. Prof. Xie joined the University of Adelaide in 2012 and has served as Associate Dean (International) with Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. His current research involves metallurgical coatings, high-strength alloys and calcified tissues, and his SCI papers are more than 180 in this research field, as well as he has undertaken many Discovery Projects for the Australian Research Council as the principal investigator. Currently, Prof. Xie is working to lead the development of strategic partnerships with universities and research organizations in China.
